The Corporate Compliance Group builds and protects Pfizer's integrity, minimizes certain liability risks and facilitates the effective defense of Pfizer's interests in the event of litigation or administrative/regulatory inquiries.

Business Transactions & Antitrust

This group supports the Legal Division's antitrust and transactional needs.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to counsel and partner with our clients to provide prudent advice and execute on their proposed business transactions, including transactions involving mergers and acquisitions, licensing and development, financial agreements and inter-company restructurings, as well as to provide advice on all antitrust matters, to best achieve corporate objectives. We carry out this mission by giving such advice and by drafting, negotiating and finalizing agreements with third parties and between affiliates in a manner that is effective and with the highest ethical standards.

Negotiation, drafting and execution of complex licensing & development transactions and acquisitions & divestitures of businesses and corporations. Regulatory Law & Compliance is responsible for corporate oversight of compliance with laws and regulations related to GXP (i.e., GCP, GLP and GMP) and environment, health and safety.

Regulatory Law & Compliance is responsible for corporate oversight of compliance with laws and regulations related to environmental and health and safety (EHS) and GXP (i.e., Good Clinical Practices (GCP), Good Laboratory Practices, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

Regulatory Law & Compliance is comprised of the following groups:

  • Environmental, Health, and Safety-Legal (EHS-Legal)
    • Provides regulatory counseling, compliance assurance, and product support related to Federal, State, and Local environmental and health and safety laws. Provides counseling on commercial transactions and property transfers, EHS liability management, and remediation.
  • Corporate Environmental, Health, and Safety (CEHS)
    • Provides strategic direction, compliance assurance, and technical support to Pfizer's global EHS program.
  • Corporate Quality Assurance (CQA)
    • Provides quality oversight of the manufacturing and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)-related business units of Pfizer.
  • Regulatory Law
    • Provides regulatory counseling, compliance assurance, and product support related to food, drug, and cosmetic law.
  • Research Quality Assurance (RQA)
    • Provides independent quality oversight & regulatory reviews of non-clinical studies and supporting processes and procedures for the human, animal and consumer health businesses.

Employment Law

The Employment Law Group's role is to: provide advice and counsel to line management and HR in all aspects of employment law and employee benefit and plan administration matters; manage employment and employee benefit litigation, claims, and government inquiries; provide guidance on employment.

Mission Statement

We proactively partner with line management, human resources, and other specialists to ensure that employment-related issues are handled in a manner consistent with Pfizer policy, values and the law. We protect the Company from liability with respect to employment and benefit-related claims; ensure compliance with all applicable employment and employee benefit laws and regulations; counsel and advise management and human resource representatives on the legal implications of HR policy interpretation, employee benefit issues, and other matters that affect employment generally; address and resolve, claims asserted by employees, former employees and others outside the Company; and develop, teach and participate in employee, HR and manager training programs.

In addition to directly coordinating all of the Company's employment and employee benefit-related litigation and administrative claims, audits and inquiries pending before government agencies, we support line management and human resources in the areas of employment law, employee benefits, employment compliance and immigration.
