While we work to improve health for people worldwide, we also strive to be a trusted and responsible member of the communities in which we work and live. We do this by going beyond the business of discovering and developing medicines to give back to our communities.
To help improve health for people around the world, we work in partnership with our employees as well as external groups including health care providers, schools, governments, and non-governmental organizations. Our charitable, volunteer and community programs range from company-wide initiatives to many individual and creative efforts inspired by employees.
Below are some examples of our community involvement:
Pfizer colleagues commit to up to six-month assignments working with nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) and multilateral organizations (MLOs) addressing HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, and other devastating diseases in developing countries.
Fellowship assignments are designed by our partners according to their needs, and Pfizer funds the Fellows' transportation, lodging and other expenses while maintaining their positions within the company. During their assignments, colleagues train and support their local counterparts, transferring skills so that the important contributions they make are sustainable over time.
We have a long history of volunteering in our local communities.
Depending on your location, a certain number of paid days may be made available to employees who wish to give something back by volunteering.
This program allows employees to make regular donations to charities out of their salaries. Specific details and processes vary by country. Depending on location and subject to annual review and limits outlined by Pfizer, we will then match donations via our Matching Gifts program.
In the US, Over the last 30 years, Pfizer and Pfizer employees have contributed more than $200 million through the Pfizer United Way Campaign to help community organizations across the country, making Pfizer one of the nation's leaders in per capita contributions and participation rates.
