Senior Vice President Vaccine Clinical Research and Development
Dr. Bill Gruber is senior vice president of Vaccine clinical research and development at Pfizer Inc. He joined Wyeth, now part of Pfizer, in 1999 as vice president of clinical vaccine research. Prior to joining Wyeth, he was an associate professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Vanderbilt University's School of Medicine. Dr. Gruber also served as director of the Diagnostic Virology Laboratory at Vanderbilt University Hospital.
Board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Dr. Gruber is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, member of the Society for Pediatric Research, Fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, and member of the America Society for Microbiology. He has also served as a consultant for the National Institutes of Health (NIAID), and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Dr. Gruber has authored or co-authored more than 100 research articles as well as book chapters, and is a reviewer for several scientific journals. He received his medical degree and his pediatric and infectious disease training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, where he also served as Chief Resident in Pediatrics. Dr. Gruber received his bachelor degree in Mathematical Sciences from Rice University, also based in Houston.
