Pfizer China Donates Funds, Medicines, to Zhaotong, Yunnan Earthquake Victims

A magnitude of 6.5 earthquake struck Ludian, Yunnan, a province in Western China, killing more than 600 people and impacting more than one million people earlier this month.

Within 24 hours, Pfizer China donated one million RMB to the Red Cross Society of China for rescue and relief operations and worked with local healthcare and medical institutions in Yunnan to expedite the preparation and delivery of medicines into the disaster area.

“We are deeply shocked by the heavy casualties caused by the Ludian earthquake. We express our deepest condolences to the victims of the tragic event,” said Dr. Wu Xiaobing, Regional President of Pfizer China. “Pfizer has always regarded fulfilling its Corporate Social Responsibility as one of its most important missions in China. These donations highlight the spirit reflected by the Chinese saying, ‘When trouble occurs in one area, help will arrive from all other areas.’”
