An Athlete is Born at 57: Anita's Story
At 57, Anita felt discouraged about her health. Overweight and feeling older than her years, she decided to take control of her body for the first time. She'd long admired those who could complete the annual triathlon held close to her house, and decided that "if there was any way it was possible, I was going to do it."
She began training hard, which involved overcoming her lifelong fear of water and learning to swim. Slowly but surely, she felt her body transform itself to the point where she successfully completed her first of many triathlons. Now that she is approaching her next stage of life as an athlete, her outlook on aging has changed significantly. According to Anita, "at any age, you can train your body to do what you want it to do."
