Pfizer Venture Investments

Pfizer Venture Investments (PVI) serves as the venture capital arm of Pfizer, supporting a variety of worldwide business development (WWBD) activities. Using Pfizer capital, we invest in innovative healthcare businesses offering new technology platforms that align with our company's strategic direction. We actively support companies—both financially and as board representatives—as appropriate.

Investment Philosophy

PVI invests for return with a value-added philosophy that aligns to Pfizer's current and future strategic interests. We take an active role with our portfolio companies by contributing both capital and industry expertise to help guide product or service development and fuel business growth.

Therapeutic Focus

We are looking to identify promising companies developing leading-edge products, technologies, and services that target the pharmaceutical industry. Currently, we are interested in expanding our portfolio with investments in product-focused companies developing a broad range of therapeutics including small molecules, biopharmaceuticals, vaccines, and specialty pharmaceuticals. Investments in diagnostics, drug delivery and health care technologies are also of interest.

Types of Investments

PVI invests in companies at all stages of development. We act as a lead or work with other investors to syndicate our deals. We generally commit approximately $5 million per investment round, and the level our involvement is commensurate with the level of investment and the company's development stage. A venture investment does not require a current business relationship with Pfizer.

Our primary geographical preference is investments located within the United States. However, a minority of our investments will be made outside the country.
