Pfizer Pharmaceutical Company: The World's Largest Pharmaceutical Company

EHS Compliance

Compliance with all environment, health and safety (EHS) laws in the countries where we work is imperative to our business operations worldwide. While we strive to go beyond EHS requirements wherever possible by finding innovative ways to lessen our impact on the environment and ensure the health and safety of our colleagues, Pfizer maintains full EHS compliance as our baseline commitment.

Goals and Commitments:

  • To comply fully with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements for EHS.

Programs and Actions:

  • Worldwide Facility Requirements: Recording and tracking applicable EHS legal requirements, providing information and training to employees responsible for assuring EHS compliance, verifying and assessing compliance with applicable requirements, and implementing and tracking the completion of corrective actions identified.

Performance:

Despite our efforts, on occasion, we have not met our high standard of performance.

  • In 2006, there was a marked improvement from 2005 performance, both in number of cases and in the number of non-compliance events resulting in a fine or penalty.
  • Pfizer had 7 enforcement events in 2006 related to various US and Puerto Rico EHS regulations resulting in fines paid totaling $26,514.

In all cases, our EHS program provided mechanisms for prompt and comprehensive corrective action, and none of the cases presented a significant risk to public health or the environment.
