Partnering and Community Outreach
Pfizer is partnering with organizations around the world to help find solutions to the most pressing environment, health and safety (EHS) issues facing our global community today. As Pfizer's ambassadors to our communities, facilities lead our efforts to engage with local stakeholders. As a company, we also partner with governments, non-government organizations, industry, academia and others to promote EHS awareness, transfer EHS technology and advance EHS management practices worldwide.
Global Partnerships
A key principle in our Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Policy is contributing to the global community's effort to protect the environment and promote workplace health and safety. Efforts include:
- Partnerships with industry associations to promote EHS information sharing and technology transfer: We are committed to remain leading edge by continuously advancing our expertise, learning from others, and sharing our knowledge.
- Partnering with academia to train the next generation of EHS leaders: From internship programs to facilitating research projects, we are partnering with academia around the globe to help train the next generation of EHS leaders.
- Partnering with global organizations to advance EHS management practices worldwide: To remain responsive to all our stakeholders and to advance the sustainability of our EHS programs, we are partnering with organizations around the world.
Community Partnerships
Under our EHS Community Outreach Guideline, research and development and manufacturing facilities worldwide must maintain an open dialogue with their communities to understand and remain sensitive to their EHS expectations and support activities that promote EHS awareness and foster good EHS management practices.
Each year facilities report on their efforts to implement this Guideline through a range of EHS community projects. Efforts include:
- Supporting the development and implementation of EHS public service programs and efforts: Facilities organize and participate in local EHS conservation and preservation efforts, recycling groups, and local or regional EHS committees and support the development of environmentally sound waste management services.
- Raising community awareness and understanding of public health and environmental matters: Facilities host EHS tours; partner with local colleges and universities to lecture on EHS issues, host internships and cooperative student programs, and help establish programs that encourage good EHS practices; host local Earth Day/World Environment Day and other EHS events; and mentor EHS professionals through seminars, workshops and other training opportunities.
