Leah started with Pfizer on May 1998 as a healthcare sales representative in Chicago. She was promoted in June 2003 to oncology specialty representative promoting cancer treatments for lung cancer and leukemia. Prior to joining Pfizer, she completed her Ph.D. in pharmacology and finished a postdoctoral fellowship in pediatric oncology research. Leah hopes to help with health care initiatives and assist in professional training since she is also a regional oncology trainer.
As a Fellow, Leah will work with Project Hope China. From 2012-2013, Project Hope China will work with several Global Health Fellows and health care providers to strengthen health education on managing chronic disease and caring for patients with risk factors. Fellows will develop a web-based training curriculum and tools to measure the use of the training and to evaluate the impact of using web curriculum toward improved disease management. Additionally, Fellows will create training curriculum and develop patient education materials.
From her GHF experience, Leah hopes to enhance her knowledge of the challenges of providing health care for a global community and to learn more about best practices for helping health care professionals to communicate effectively with their patients.
Project HOPE (Health Opportunities for People Everywhere) is dedicated to provide lasting, sustainable solutions to health problems around the world, working in partnership with people and communities, giving them the opportunity and the means to help themselves.
