Mary has worked for Pfizer since September 2006 as a recruiter, supporting various pharmaceutical business units as well as the enabling functions. Currently she is responsible for Finance and Policy, External Affairs, & Communications recruiting in North America.
Mary also has served on several Habitat for Humanity Global Village trips, including most recently a trip to Zambia, Africa. She looks forward to returning to Southern Africa, this time to utilize her Human Resources (HR) experience to ultimately improve the lives of the one of the world's poorest populations. She feels this Fellowship is an unbelievable opportunity to leverage her professional skills, her cultural experiences, and her commitment to social responsibility.
On her Fellowship with WaterAid Malawi, Mary will support the WaterAid staff in implementing HR processes, train managers in coaching and performance management techniques, and review the organizational structure to assess the effectiveness of a recent restructuring. Mary plans to provide a strategic HR guide for the country, an action plan and budget required for implementation of this work. From her GHF experience, Mary hopes to return from her assignment with a stronger understanding of another culture and way of doing business in a small, resource constrained environment, all while gaining a better perspective of the public health concerns and the everyday challenges organizations face in developing markets.
WaterAid is a leading independent organization, which enables the world's poorest people to gain access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene education.
