Warachal has worked for Pfizer since 2008 as medical director in women's health and neuroscience, focusing on Alzheimer's disease. As a physician, she is passionate about health care access and the appropriate care of patients. She has been recognized for her work in health disparities as well as her commitment to community outreach.
Warachal will serve her fellowship with GBCHealth. GBCHealth is partnering with the GHF program in 2012-2013 to design and implement a new initiative to engage businesses in diabetes prevention and care efforts across China. By sharing chronic disease experience with GBCHealth, Fellows will play a critical role in building this critical advocacy and prevention initiative and expanding the business community's contributions to address this growing public health concern.
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a leading cause of global disease burden and many CVD risk factors, such as diabetes, can be prevented, controlled or treated. From her GHF experience, Warachal hopes to learn more about diabetes and the challenges faced by China in fighting this growing epidemic. Warachal believes she'll return from her assignment with a greater understanding of the challenges and solutions to developing community health partnerships to improve diabetes awareness and access to care.
