Uma has worked for Pfizer since 1990, holding various jobs within Research and Development. The majority of her experience has been in monitoring and managing global clinical trials in Infectious Disease. Currently as a Global Feasibility Manager, she assists project teams in conducting feasibility studies to strategically locate global trials.

On assignment with St. Hope Foundation, Uma will project manage and support oversight of the delivery of the operational aspects of clinical studies. In addition, she will build the siteýs capacity to conduct clinical trials by engaging pharmaceutical companies for participation in new or ongoing trials. Uma hopes her Fellowship experience will help her to gain a better understanding of the current state of HIV/AIDS in the United States. She believes she will return to Pfizer with deeper insight into the perspectives of both investigators and patients with regard to clinical trials.

The St. Hope Foundation is a nonprofit organization with five locations in the Houston metropolitan area providing various services from Primary Medical Care, Prevention Education, Medical Case Management, Well Woman/Perinatal services to HIV Counseling/Testing Referral to people living with HIV/AIDS.
