Expanding access to Pain Coping Skills Training: A professional certificate program to enable Advanced Practice Registered Nursesto fill the gap
University of Southern California
This program is designed to leverage both the nursing profession’s expertise in patient education and their increased care of patients with chronic pain by training APRNs in Pain Coping Skills Training (PCST). PCST is an efficacious, brief intervention, based on cognitive--‐behavioral principals for managing chronic pain. The goal is to create a national certificate program in PCST for APRNs and to evaluate the effectiveness of this training in community practice using a longitudinal protocol.
