It takes teamwork to deliver life-changing health improvements to the people who need it most.
Through our global health programs and partnerships, we support initiatives that strengthen overall health systems of communities in need. These are helping to drive progress toward the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
From training frontline healthcare workers and supporting infrastructure to providing global health grants and investments, we’re ensuring that systems will have the capacity and sustainability to deliver desired health outcomes for the most vulnerable populations.
All people – regardless of where they live or their income have a right to safe and effective health solutions. Yet, billions still lack even basic healthcare services. To help close this health equity gap and address the challenges that currently limit or prevent access to medicines and vaccines, Pfizer launched An Accord for a Healthier World.
Through the Accord, we have committed to provide access to the full portfolio for which we have global rights – both patented and off-patent medicines and vaccines – on a not-for-profit basis to 1.2 billion people in 45 lower-income countries around the world. By doing so, we aim to provide breakthrough prevention and treatment options for those impacted by deadly infectious diseases, as well as certain cancers and rare and inflammatory diseases. As we launch new medicines and vaccines, those products will also be included in the Accord portfolio on a not-for-profit basis
We have a strong tradition of funding external, independent, not-for-profit organizations. These partners share our commitment to fund programs and activities that provide broad public benefit, advance medical care, and improve patient outcomes.
Among these partners are patient advocacy groups, professional medical associations, and other U.S.-based charitable organizations with 501(c)(3) tax status.
We do everything we can to ensure that our alignment with external, independent, not-for-profit organizations is conducted in strict compliance with relevant laws and regulations, industry codes, external standards, and internal Pfizer policies and procedures.
Disasters can strike at any time in any part of the globe. Events like severe storms, droughts, wildfires, disease outbreaks, and population displacement take a tragic toll on people.
The UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and the World Health Organization agree that the frequency and severity of humanitarian emergencies generated as the result of impacts of climate change will continue to increase unless global carbon emissions are reduced and temperature rise is stabilized.
Recognizing the critical need for emergency humanitarian assistance, we have a three part approach: cash grants, product donations, and other access solutions.
Pfizer colleagues around the world work collaboratively with governments, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), Civil Service Organizations (CSOs), and health care providers (HCPs), to enable prevention and treatment of disease by making medicines and vaccines available to as many people as possible.
Our colleagues are able to support causes and organizations they care about through a workplace program called Give Forward.
Using online tools, programs and rewards, the initiative allows our people to support in organizations they personally believe in.

Pfizer’s signature skills-based volunteering program, Global Health Fellows, harnesses the power of Pfizer colleagues to lend their professional expertise to global health organizations working to strengthen health systems and close the health equity gap.
Through skills-sharing projects, partner organizations gain valuable expertise and build capacity, while Global Health Fellows learn, grow, and use their skills in new ways.
Advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals, including universal health coverage (UHC) is going to require groundbreaking and sustainable solutions that leverage emerging technologies to strengthen health systems.
A key area in need of this innovation is “last mile” delivery to remote communities.
Since 2019, Pfizer has been working with Zipline to develop new drone technology for delivering medicines to remote communities around the world. Together with Zipline and its other partners, including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Gavi Alliance, and the UPS Foundation, we’re working to help support the Government of Ghana in establishing a medical drone delivery system to ensure access to crucial health products in some of the nation’s most rural areas.

The Pfizer Multicultural Health Equity Collective focuses on helping to improve health equity across ethnic groups and other underrepresented communities facing significant health disparities.
Gavi is an international health organization focused on improving access to new and under-used vaccines for the most vulnerable populations in partnership with the public and private sectors.
Pfizer first partnered with Gavi in 2010 to provide our pediatric pneumococcal conjugate, shipping more than 600 million doses to 50 Gavi-eligible countries through the pneumococcal Advanced Market Commitment (AMC) since that time. AMC is a Gavi financing mechanism that works to provide sustainable supply to countries in need.
Gavi is also a founding member of the COVAX Facility, a worldwide initiative aimed at equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines. In partnership with COVAX, Pfizer and BioNTech have provided their COVID-19 vaccine to more than 90 countries in every region around the globe.

Trachoma is one of several neglected tropical diseases the World Health Organization has identified for elimination. This infectious eye disease causes eyelids to turn in and lashes to scrape the eyeball, causing great pain, corneal ulcers, and irreversible blindness unless treated with antibiotics or a simple surgical procedure.
Trachoma is the world's leading infectious cause of blindness and primarily affects remote communities with severely limited access to healthcare, clean water, and sanitation.
In 2019, just over 142 million people are at risk of trachoma, a 91percent reduction from the 1.5 billion in 2002.1
