As a member of our Quantitative Metabolism team within ADME (Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism and Excretion) Sciences, you will help advance Pfizer’s small molecule portfolio from discovery through development.
You will shape fit-for-purpose ADME strategies, identify and mitigate disposition risks, and translate enzymology and ADME data into evidence-based recommendations that guide discovery and development project decisions. This includes owning scientific questions from hypothesis generation through experimental strategy, data generation and interpretation, risk assessment, and communication of clear recommendations to teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as the ADME scientific owner for assigned project questions, influencing strategy as an active partner on departmental discovery and development project teams and aligning recommendations with project needs and key stakeholder priorities.
Own the design, execution, and interpretation of fit-for-purpose enzymology studies that address key questions in clearance, disposition, in vitro-to-in vivo translation, and DDI risk.
Integrate in vitro ADME data to identify liabilities, define next-step experiments, and propose mitigation strategies to enable project progression.
Provide scientific ownership for key ADME risk assessments, such as determining whether clearance mechanisms, enzyme involvement, induction or inhibition liabilities are sufficiently understood to support project decisions.
Lead from the lab by designing and executing impactful experiments while maintaining high scientific rigor and data quality.
Mentor scientists through experimental oversight, technical guidance, data review, and coaching that builds scientific independence.
Identifies capability gaps, and creates new options through technology, external networks, partnerships, or novel approaches
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
PhD in a related science discipline with 4 or more years of relevant industry experience in an ADME sciences related field, OR
MS in a related science discipline with 9 or years of relevant industry experience in an ADME sciences related field, OR
BS in a related science discipline with 12 or more years of relevant experience in an ADME sciences related field.
Knowledge of enzymology/drug metabolism principles, such as enzyme kinetics, reaction phenotyping, drug-drug interactions, and pharmacokinetic predictions.
Experience independently leading complex ADME workstreams, integrating study design, data interpretation, and scientific recommendations that support project decision making and advance our predictive sciences.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing technical reports, project recommendations, presentations, or external scientific communications.
Experience coaching or mentoring scientists through technical guidance, experimental planning, and data review.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Expertise in another ADME science discipline, such as biotransformation, transporters, or PBPK modeling.
Experience connecting mechanistic ADME findings to chemistry, translational sciences, clinical pharmacology, toxicology, regulatory strategy, or nonclinical study packages.
Experience supporting beyond-rule-of-five compounds or using long-term culture systems to address ADME questions.
Record of improving assays, workflows, data quality, or technology implementation, including responsible use of common AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot to enhance problem solving and productivity.
Broader scientific impact through internal guidance, external publications, conference presentations, or ADME/DMPK best practices.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Laboratory work, use of laboratory equipment, and adherence to safe laboratory practices
Occasional lifting
Mathematical calculations and complex data analysis
NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

Breakthroughs that change patients’ lives
Research confirms what intuition tells us: that purpose-driven companies perform better, are more innovative, attract and retain the best people, and know how to unleash the power of those people. Pfizer’s purpose—Breakthroughs that change patients' lives—fuels everything we do and reflects our passion for building on our legacy as one of the greatest contributors of good to the world.
Each word in our purpose has meaning and reflects the value we strive to bring to patients and society:
“Breakthroughs” - These are the innovations, scientific and commercial, that we seek to deliver every day. All colleagues, regardless of role, level or location, strive for breakthroughs every day.
“Change” - We want to do more than simply improve patients’ medical conditions; we want to dramatically change their lives for the better.
“Patients’ lives” - We consider not only patients, but everyone they touch—including their families, caregivers, and friends—and everything they love to do. It’s an intentionally holistic view.
Our purpose ensures that patients remain at the center of all we do. We live our purpose by sourcing the best science in the world; partnering with others in the healthcare system to improve access to our medicines; using digital technologies to enhance our drug discovery and development, as well as patient outcomes; and leading the conversation to advocate for pro-innovation/pro-patient policies.
Every decision we make and every action we take is done with the patient in mind—and to nurture an environment where breakthroughs can thrive.
