ROLE SUMMARY
At Pfizer we make medicines and vaccines that change patients' lives with a global reach of over 780 million patients.
Within Digital R&D Creation Center, the Veeva RIM team is responsible for defining the strategy and leading the delivery of the Veeva RIM product suite to end users. This includes the operation, implementation, and integration of Veeva RIM solutions that address R&D business processes effectively. At Pfizer, Veeva RIM product suite includes all modules including Registrations, HA Correspondence, Submissions & Publishing.
The Manager, VEEVA RIM Configuration Engineer, is a leader, hands-on individual contributor responsible for the design, configuration, and lifecycle management of Pfizer’s Veeva RIM System across assigned domain(s). As a core member of a SAFe Agile team delivering Veeva product releases, this role partners closely with Product Manager, Business Owner, Operations, Data Management, the Technical Lead, Platform Services, and Enterprise Architecture Management (EAM) to translate business needs into secure, scalable Vault RIM capabilities. The role drives high-quality delivery through design governance, release planning/execution, change control, and compliance with computerized system validation (CSV) expectations.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Vault Configuration Oversight & Solution Design
• Lead and oversee Vault RIM configuration across assigned domain(s) (objects, page layouts, lifecycles, security, business rules, user roles, and workflows) to support global regulatory business processes.
• Elicit, analyze, and document requirements; translate into configuration specifications and traceable user stories/acceptance criteria.
• Partner with Technical Lead, Platform Services, and EAM to ensure solution designs are consistent with platform standards, security, and compliance expectations.
SAFe Delivery, Release Planning & Execution
• Serve on a SAFe Agile team and contribute to PI planning, backlog refinement, sprint execution, and Veeva product release readiness activities.
• Own end-to-end delivery of configuration changes from intake through build, test, deployment, and hypercare; manage scope, dependencies, risks, and stakeholder communications.
• Coordinate and assign configuration work across the agile team (functional work allocation to meet sprint/release commitments).
Validation, Quality, and Compliance (CSV)
• Partner with Quality and validation teams to ensure Vault RIM changes are delivered in compliance with CSV expectations (e.g., GxP as applicable), including documentation, traceability, and audit readiness.
• Support test strategy and execution (UAT/functional/regression) and ensure defects are triaged and resolved effectively.
Integration, Data, and Reporting Enablement
• Collaborate with integration and data teams to enable end-to-end processes across the Veeva RIM and adjacent platforms including data flows and operational reporting needs.
• Contribute to troubleshooting and root-cause analysis across environments; recommend sustainable fixes.
Stakeholder Partnership, Technical Guidance, and Standards
• Serve as a trusted advisor to Product Owners and business stakeholders; clearly communicate trade-offs and recommended solutions for complex scenarios.
• Provide technical guidance and peer mentoring to configuration specialists through design reviews, pairing, and reusable patterns/standards; serves as a functional lead without direct people-management accountability.
• Build and maintain knowledge assets (configuration standards, runbooks, decision logs) to improve delivery consistency, compliance, and supportability.

Strong understanding of Vault platform capabilities and configuration concepts (security model, objects/fields, lifecycles/workflows, rules, and environment management), including limitations and design trade-offs.
Working knowledge of integration and data concepts relevant to Vault (e.g., REST APIs, ETL patterns, SSO), plus experience partnering with engineering teams to deliver integrations and operational reporting.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences and influence decisions across a matrixed organization.
Experience with Agile delivery and SDLC controls, including requirements traceability, testing practices, change management, and release governance in a regulated environment (CSV).
Demonstrated ability to drive standardization and continuous improvement (e.g., reusable configuration patterns, automation where applicable, improved supportability) while balancing stakeholder needs and platform constraints.
