ROLE SUMMARY
The National Field Reimbursement Lead is responsible for transforming Pfizer Oncology's field reimbursement strategy to meet the demands of a portfolio that spans oral oncolytics (Part D) and physician-administered, infused therapies (Part B/buy & bill). This senior leader must be fluent across both reimbursement environments sustaining support for priority oral assets while building out buy & bill capabilities required for launches and the next generation of infused oncology therapies. This leader will own the national vision and execution for access and reimbursement across a 25+ person field team, serve as the enterprise champion for AI-enabled reimbursement infrastructure, and leading a team focusing on working to ensure that post-prescription patients are initiating and staying on therapy in a manner that supports optimal outcomes on our key brands. The role reports directly to the VP, Oncology Patient Solutions & Alliances and will serve as a member of the OPSA Leadership Team
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership & National Vision
- Define and execute the national field reimbursement strategy aligned to Pfizer Oncology's evolving buy & bill and infused portfolio priorities
- Lead the transformation roadmap: build the capabilities and infrastructure to meet providers and patients wherever the evolving portfolio requires — in close collaboration with the Commercial Oncology Leadership Team and aligned to priority brands — without presupposing a fixed structural orientation before that work is done
- Serve as primary liaison to the VP and OPSA Leadership Team on field access trends, team performance, and market intelligence
- Partner with Marketing, Brand, US Market Access & Patient Support Services (USMA+PSS) and Customer Engagement Platform (CEP) teams to align reimbursement strategy with launch plans, Op Plans, and portfolio milestones
- Evolve team to provide a mix of a proactive and reactive support health system–first engagement model, in support of patient-first partnership
- Design and Execute aligned field reimbursement support for critical launches.
- Support, Motivate and Mentor an award-winning field reimbursement team – both Field Reimbursement Directors (FRD) and Patient Access Navigators (PAN) – to continue to activate with urgency and integrity.
Buy & Bill and Medical Benefit Expertise
- Provide subject matter expertise on medical benefit reimbursement, J-code/HCPCS coding, HOPPS billing, infusion billing/coding, and site-of-care dynamics
- Guide FRD teams through the complexity of buy & bill launches, including lack of product-specific J-codes, claim denial risk mitigation, and provider reimbursement confidence
- Oversee the team's proficiency development in prior authorization, peer-to-peer support, appeal construction, and denial trend analytics
- Ensure readiness across all reimbursement pathways—commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, 340B—for the full Pfizer Oncology portfolio including IV, injectable, and oral products
Health System & IDN Engagement
- Lead strategy for engaging Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs), academic medical centers, and health systems through structured account planning, quarterly business reviews
- Develop and implement P&T committee engagement frameworks and formulary management protocols for relevant accounts
- Guide multi-site coordination across community, hospital outpatient, and academic settings to ensure consistent reimbursement support
- Oversee territory redesign as necessary to align FRD coverage with IDN footprint and health system priorities
Analytics, AI & Digital Integration
- Champion adoption of AI-enabled tools including Coach 360, automated denial analysis, and predictive patient-access modeling across the field team
- Oversee deployment of real-time territory dashboards and claims-based denial trend reporting to evolve teams account prioritization
- Drive EHR and digital integration priorities including (eg. CoverMyMeds PA automation, FHIR-based benefit verification and emerging patient-centered technologies) in partnership with our Digital team
- Partner with OPSA Analytics, USMA, and the PSS Data Aggregator team to build a systematic payer policy intelligence function
- Serve as OPSA LT sponsor for Field Execution and Innovation, including oversight of the new Field Innovation & Automation role
Team Leadership & People Development
- Directly manage Regional FRD Team Leads and PANs with indirect oversight of Enablement Field Reimbursement
- Lead talent assessment, reskilling curriculum oversight, and structured certification program (buy & bill competencies) across the +25 person team
- Drive recruiting, hiring, performance management, diversity initiatives, and succession planning across the field organization
- Implement and model Pfizer's Purpose Blueprint, Ambitions, Bold Moves, and Values; lead Action Plans from PLI survey results
- Build a compliant, high-performance culture aligned with all Pfizer policies, procedures, and relevant CMS/OIG regulations
- Lead team in continuity of high-functioning FRD mentorship program for growth and potential promotion of emerging talent
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Market Intelligence
- Lead cross-functional engagement with USMA+PSS, Oncology Brand Marketing, Legal, Compliance, Hub Operations, and Digital
- Synthesize field intelligence on local market dynamics, payer policy changes, and access barriers and communicate to VP and OPSA LT, and as requested to Commercial Oncology Leadership Team
- Provide input to business planning cycles through insights gathered from FRDs, access trends, and denial analytics
- Align with the Pfizer Oncology Together platform and Hub Operations team to optimize integrated patient support services
- Own the post-prescription patient journey on key brands — ensuring patients are initiating therapy, staying on therapy, and receiving the reimbursement support needed to achieve optimal outcomes; this accountability is a core performance expectation of this role, not an assumed outcome

Breakthroughs that change patients’ lives
Research confirms what intuition tells us: that purpose-driven companies perform better, are more innovative, attract and retain the best people, and know how to unleash the power of those people. Pfizer’s purpose—Breakthroughs that change patients' lives—fuels everything we do and reflects our passion for building on our legacy as one of the greatest contributors of good to the world.
Each word in our purpose has meaning and reflects the value we strive to bring to patients and society:
“Breakthroughs” - These are the innovations, scientific and commercial, that we seek to deliver every day. All colleagues, regardless of role, level or location, strive for breakthroughs every day.
“Change” - We want to do more than simply improve patients’ medical conditions; we want to dramatically change their lives for the better.
“Patients’ lives” - We consider not only patients, but everyone they touch—including their families, caregivers, and friends—and everything they love to do. It’s an intentionally holistic view.
Our purpose ensures that patients remain at the center of all we do. We live our purpose by sourcing the best science in the world; partnering with others in the healthcare system to improve access to our medicines; using digital technologies to enhance our drug discovery and development, as well as patient outcomes; and leading the conversation to advocate for pro-innovation/pro-patient policies.
Every decision we make and every action we take is done with the patient in mind—and to nurture an environment where breakthroughs can thrive.
Our Values
To fully realize Pfizer’s purpose, we have established a clear set of expectations regarding “what” we need to achieve for patients and “how” we will go about achieving those goals.
The “how” is represented by four simple, powerful values—courage, excellence, equity, and joy—that define our company and our culture.
Courage: Breakthroughs start by challenging convention, especially in the face of uncertainty or adversity. This happens when we think big, speak up, and are decisive.
Excellence: We can only change patients’ lives when we perform at our best together. This happens when we focus on what matters, agree who does what, and measure our outcomes.
Equity: We believe that every person deserves to be seen, heard, and cared for. This happens when we are inclusive, act with integrity, and reduce healthcare disparities.
Joy: We give ourselves to our work, but it also gives to us. We find joy when we take pride, recognize one another, and have fun.
