For six seasons, the Science Will Win podcast has tackled topics at the forefront of healthcare and science. Pfizer’s flagship podcast is dedicated to educating and informing listeners with help from the doctors on the front lines, the scientists behind the scenes, and the patients and survivors looking for help – and hope...

Thanks to its compelling mix of expert information, scientific insight, and personal perspectives, the award-winning Science Will Win ranks among the top 1% of all podcasts globally. Last season focused on cancer from multiple angles, including the rise of early on-set cancers, the experiences of women and survivors, and the increasingly large role of artificial intelligence in the ongoing fight against the disease.

The latest season launches this week with a new host and a new topic: the science behind obesity.

More than 100 million Americans live with obesity, yet one of the most widely used tools for measuring it—BMI—was never built for the job. Season 7 of Science Will Win looks past the number on the scale to explore obesity as the complex, chronic disease it is, shaped by a wide range of interconnected biological systems.

Hosted by Joe Hanson, PhD, a molecular biologist, science storyteller, and professionally curious person, this season’s four episodes each touch on a different topic within obesity including that pesky BMI, how hunger works, whether willpower is really the secret to losing weight, and common comorbidities that accompany the disease.

Pfizer is working with and listening to leading experts and advocacy groups to better understand the complexity of obesity and what science can achieve. All season long, you’ll hear from leading scientists, Pfizer colleagues, and patients sharing their own experiences, and each episode will be paired with a companion video episode on YouTube.
