ROLE SUMMARY
Background: Citizen Development is an exciting emerging area at Pfizer leveraging new AI tools to empower colleagues to create agents and apps quickly and easily. Focusing on no and low-code solutions, Citizen Development will empower non-coders to create novel solutions, helpful agents and powerful apps with minimal technical background or experience.
Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sr. Director Citizen Development & AI Products that will lead our efforts to create robust no and low-code tooling for non-coder colleagues to utilize. This role is responsible for the technical toolset, strategy and enablement of these innovative tools. They will also lead and communicate the vision and roadmap for Citizen Development at Pfizer.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Technical Strategy: This role requires someone who is a technical visionary that is forward thinking and clear-headed. Must be able to:
- Anticipate upcoming citizen development needs
- Bring appropriate technical approaches
- Communicate the technical strategy effectively to stakeholders and delivery teams
- Communicate the vision to non-technical colleagues
- Articulate the boundaries of citizen development versus pro-code tools and traditional software development practices
- High Level Architecture: This role also must understand the ecosystem surrounding no and low-code AI tools. Must be able to:
- Put together high-level technical architectures that both describe current and future state of the Citizen Development ecosystem
- Understand and implement effective connection patterns, including MCP and other emerging solutions
- Drive decisions related to technical platforms and tools
- Leadership: This person will create and communicate the vision and strategy for Citizen Development. Responsible for:
- Explaining technical decisions in ways that non-technical folks can understand
- Being highly collaborative with leadership both inside and outside of Digital
- Problem solving on the fly and thinking on their feet.
- Innovative Thinking: This person is responsible for bringing innovation and consistently needs to:
- Create novel solutions and champion out of the box ideas for solving technical, architectural and process challenges
- Have deep familiarity with Generative AI, AI agents, APIs and cloud infrastructure
- Product Management: This role includes managing the product owners and technical leads. Responsible for:
- Managing the product owners for all products related to citizen development, connectors and related tools
- Work with vendors, platform providers and delivery teams to connect the ecosystem together
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Technology or a related field w/ at least 12 years of applicable experience
- A Master's degree is preferred
- Experience:
- Proven experience in software development, large-scale applications, Generative AI, or a related field.
- Experience in consumer digital products and associated technical project management roles is highly desirable.
- Analytical Skills:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights.
- Communication Skills:
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong proficiency in software development.
- Deep Generative AI skill and experience using Generative AI within software applications.
- Strong understanding of non-developers, their use cases and how to apply no and low-code tools to them.
- Have a platform-as-product mindset, running citizen development tools as products.
- Proficiency in AI agentic tools such as Copilot and Copilot Studio
- Collaboration:
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Experience in managing and prioritizing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams.
- Industry Knowledge:
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in Generative AI.
- Understand app development, user experience and Generative AI development tools.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $204,700.00 to $341,100.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 22.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
