Position Overview
The Patient Solution Product Manager is responsible for designing, developing, and managing patient-centric digital products powered by AI and emerging technologies that enhance patient experience, engagement, and health outcomes across Pfizer China's commercial portfolio. Reporting to the GTMx Solution Lead for Commercial AI Innovation, this role bridges the gap between commercial strategy, medical science, and digital product innovation — driving meaningful, compliant, and human-centered engagement with patients at scale. The incumbent will define and execute the patient product roadmap, lead cross-functional product delivery, and champion the patient perspective within Pfizer China's AI transformation agenda.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Product Strategy
- Define and execute the patient product roadmap aligned with Pfizer China's commercial priorities and AI innovation strategy, identifying high-impact opportunities to improve patient engagement, education, treatment adherence, and health outcomes through digital solutions.
- Develop compelling product business cases and strategic proposals that secure senior leadership endorsement and cross-functional resource commitment.
Product Development Lifecycle
- Lead end-to-end product development from opportunity identification and concept design through build, pilot, launch, scale, and iteration — following agile product development principles and structured stage-gate governance.
- Define product vision, user stories, acceptance criteria, and feature prioritization frameworks, collaborating closely with digital engineering, UX design, medical, and commercial teams to deliver products that meet user needs and business objectives.
Patient Insights & Research
- Conduct and synthesize patient journey research, voice-of-patient studies, ethnographic research, and competitive market analysis to develop deep understanding of patient needs, pain points, information gaps, and behavioral drivers.
- Translate patient insights into actionable product requirements and design principles, ensuring every product decision is anchored in real-world patient experience and validated with target users.
AI-Powered Product Innovation
- Leverage artificial intelligence, machine learning, personalization engines, conversational AI (chatbots/virtual health assistants), and generative AI technologies to create differentiated, scalable, and adaptive patient engagement solutions.
- Monitor and evaluate emerging AI technologies and digital health innovations for applicability to patient product development, proposing pilot initiatives to explore and validate new approaches.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner with brand/marketing teams, medical affairs, regulatory/legal, compliance, IT, patient advocacy, and external technology vendors and agencies to ensure products are scientifically sound, commercially impactful, and fully compliant.
- Serve as the patient product lead within cross-functional squads, facilitating alignment on scope, timelines, dependencies, and risk management across all stakeholder groups.
Product Performance Management
- Define product KPIs, usage metrics, outcome measures, and patient satisfaction indicators; build analytics dashboards and reporting frameworks to enable ongoing performance monitoring and data-driven product decisions.
- Establish structured feedback loops — including user testing, patient advisory panels, and real-world evidence review — to continuously improve product features, usability, and health impact.
Market Landscape & Competitive Intelligence
- Monitor patient digital product trends, competitive offerings, technology developments, and regulatory changes in pharmaceutical patient engagement; identify whitespace opportunities for product differentiation and innovation.
- Build and maintain an external intelligence network spanning technology partners, patient communities, academic institutions, and healthcare ecosystem players to inform product strategy.
Regulatory & Compliance
- Ensure all patient products comply with NMPA regulations, Pfizer's global product development standards, data privacy requirements (PIPL/GDPR principles), and applicable pharmaceutical promotional guidelines throughout the product lifecycle.
- Engage proactively with legal, compliance, and medical review processes, building compliant-by-design products that maintain the highest standards of patient safety and data protection.
Stakeholder Communication
- Present product strategies, roadmap updates, performance results, and business case recommendations to senior leadership and cross-functional governance forums; champion the patient perspective in all commercial decision-making.
- Develop and maintain clear internal product documentation (product briefs, roadmap decks, feature specs) that enables efficient cross-functional alignment and handoff.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or above in Business, Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Digital Health, Human-Computer Interaction, Health Informatics, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in product management, digital health product development, or commercial strategy roles within pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare technology sectors.
- Proven track record in developing and launching digital products or patient engagement programs — from concept through live product — with hands-on experience in product design, user research, agile development, and product analytics.
- Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical patient journey, chronic disease management, treatment adherence, and the regulatory landscape for patient-facing digital health products in China.
- Familiarity with AI/ML tools, digital health platforms, CRM systems, patient engagement technologies, and remote patient monitoring solutions; direct experience with generative AI product applications is a significant plus.
- Excellent analytical skills with a data-driven approach to product prioritization and decision-making; experience with product analytics tools (e.g., Mixpanel, Amplitude) and A/B testing methodologies.
- Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent product workstreams, competing priorities, and diverse stakeholder groups.
- Exceptional communication and influencing skills; ability to translate complex scientific and technical content into clear, patient-friendly messaging and compelling executive presentations.
- Patient-first mindset combined with commercial acumen; demonstrated passion for improving patient health outcomes and healthcare system innovation.

Information & Business TechBreakthroughs that change patients’ lives
Research confirms what intuition tells us: that purpose-driven companies perform better, are more innovative, attract and retain the best people, and know how to unleash the power of those people. Pfizer’s purpose—Breakthroughs that change patients' lives—fuels everything we do and reflects our passion for building on our legacy as one of the greatest contributors of good to the world.
Each word in our purpose has meaning and reflects the value we strive to bring to patients and society:
“Breakthroughs” - These are the innovations, scientific and commercial, that we seek to deliver every day. All colleagues, regardless of role, level or location, strive for breakthroughs every day.
“Change” - We want to do more than simply improve patients’ medical conditions; we want to dramatically change their lives for the better.
“Patients’ lives” - We consider not only patients, but everyone they touch—including their families, caregivers, and friends—and everything they love to do. It’s an intentionally holistic view.
Our purpose ensures that patients remain at the center of all we do. We live our purpose by sourcing the best science in the world; partnering with others in the healthcare system to improve access to our medicines; using digital technologies to enhance our drug discovery and development, as well as patient outcomes; and leading the conversation to advocate for pro-innovation/pro-patient policies.
Every decision we make and every action we take is done with the patient in mind—and to nurture an environment where breakthroughs can thrive.
Our Values
To fully realize Pfizer’s purpose, we have established a clear set of expectations regarding “what” we need to achieve for patients and “how” we will go about achieving those goals.
The “how” is represented by four simple, powerful values—courage, excellence, equity, and joy—that define our company and our culture.
Courage: Breakthroughs start by challenging convention, especially in the face of uncertainty or adversity. This happens when we think big, speak up, and are decisive.
Excellence: We can only change patients’ lives when we perform at our best together. This happens when we focus on what matters, agree who does what, and measure our outcomes.
Equity: We believe that every person deserves to be seen, heard, and cared for. This happens when we are inclusive, act with integrity, and reduce healthcare disparities.
Joy: We give ourselves to our work, but it also gives to us. We find joy when we take pride, recognize one another, and have fun.
