Anthony Barry, PhD is a Partner at Pfizer Ventures, Worldwide Business Development. In this role, Anthony is responsible for identifying, evaluating, making, and managing equity investments aligned with the future scientific and strategic directions of Pfizer. He manages Pfizer's venture investments in early-stage biotechnology and platform companies, with a particular focus on novel therapeutic modalities, advanced drug delivery systems, and digital health innovations that have the potential to shape the future of healthcare.
Anthony brings over 20 years of distinguished experience at Pfizer, where he has successfully led platform technology groups and external R&D innovation initiatives. Prior to joining the Pfizer Ventures team, he served as the Emerging Science Lead for Biotherapeutics, Technologies and Digital, where he scouted and secured strategic external collaborations and early-stage licensing opportunities. Throughout his career, he has been a key driver in identifying and accelerating emerging science to deliver breakthroughs to patients, and has championed the integration of advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML), within the therapeutic discovery and pharmaceutical formulation pipeline.
Anthony received his Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Chemistry from Carleton College and earned his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Pharmaceutics from the University of Utah.
