Jiaping Gu, PhD, is a Partner at Pfizer Ventures and Vice President, Worldwide Business Development. Jiaping is responsible for identifying, evaluating, making and managing equity investments aligned with the future scientific and strategic directions of Pfizer. He manages Pfizer’s venture investments in early-stage biotechnology companies, with a particular focus on opportunities in China.

Jiaping brings 10+ years of investment experiences in both public and private life science companies. Prior to Pfizer Ventures, Jiaping is a Partner at Takeda Ventures, where he was responsible for sourcing and executing investments aligned with Takeda’s R&D strategy and managing Takeda’s equity portfolio. Prior to Takeda Ventures, Jiaping was Vice President at Hillhouse Investment, where he was a member of the Bioventure team covering private stage biotech investments in the US and Europe. Previously he has more than 10 years of research experiences focusing on neurodegeneration in the pharmaceutical industry and academic institutions.

Jiaping earned his PhD in Neuroscience from Rutgers University and received his BS in Biological Sciences from Tsinghua University in China.
